Ryohei Kameyama Sends Floatin V16 in Japan

The problem has a unique move which all three climbers who've sent it have done the same way

Ryohei Kameyama has made the third ascent of Floatin V16, first climbed by Ryuchi Murai in Mitzugaki, Japan, in 2021. It was recently repeated by Florian Wientjes shortly before Kameyama.

About his send, Kameyama said, “Seeing Ryuichi’s first ascent and other strong climbers repeated attempts, it was an impressive move that I wanted to touch even if I couldn’t climb it. At the same time, I was aware of the difficulty of the move even before trying it. I was not able to stop the first move and lost the first three days of my first attempt. A year later, I tried again and found that the rock conditions were perfect, so I was able to make the first move. Since it was a long way to Mizugaki, I decided to make a long rest to connect with the start of the climb. I was able to concentrate surprisingly well and topped out on that attempt. I felt like I was just barely floating.”

While Kameyama is not as well known as some top boulderers, he has several hard climbs to his name, including the La Révolutionnaire Assis V16, No Kpote Only V15/16, The Big Island V15 and Shambala V15. See more info on all three ascents of Floatin below.
