Seb Berthe Flashes Mind Control 5.14c

Top Belgian climber Seb Berthe has flashed Mind Control, a steep 5.14c in Oliana, Spain. Berthe is known for his difficult climbs both at the crag on on big walls.

Last year, he and Nico Favresse climbed the European Alpine Trilogy in only two weeks. The trio of 5.14a multi-pitch routes are Thomas Huber’s End of Silence, Berchtesgaden Alps, Germany; Stefan Glowacz’s Des Kaisers neue Kleider, Wilder Kaiser massif, Austria; and Beat Kammerlander’s Silbergeier, the Rätikon, Switzerland. All three were established in 1994. They are the first climbers to do the Alpine Trilogy in one calendar season.

On Nov. 11, 2019, Berthe became only the seventh person to free climb The Nose, one of the world’s most famous routes. The 1,000-metre route is rated at 5.14a. Watch a film about the send below.

Berthe is currently in Catalonia where he is attempting Fight of flight 5.15b. Mind Control has been flashed by Italian Silvio Reffo and onsighted by Adam Ondra.
