On November 10, Sierra Blair topped Birch Problem V14 (8B+) in Cherry Canyon, Arizona. Birch Problem is one of the hardest problems in northern Arizona, climbing on steep, technical, and crimpy terrain. The ascent was Blair’s first of the grade. “I was way too excited to hold this news in any longer,” said Blair on Instagram sharing the news.

Blair is from Scottsdale, Arizona, and many of her hardest sends have been in her home state. In February this year, she sent The Avenger V12 in Oak Flats, and a couple months later, she sent Mono of Doom V11 near Flagstaff. Last year she topped Animatter V12, Captain Hook V12, Cop Killer V11, and The Avenger (stand start) V11. In 2023, she sent two V12s and three V11s according to her 8a.nu logbook.

Blair competed on the World Cup circuit from 2010 to 2019. Now, at 31, she is continuing to push her grades. In July, a film featuring Blair called “Pretty Strong” was released, which you can watch below.
