Squamish Climber Montenegro Joins V14 Club

Squamish-based Hans Christian Montenegro has climbed North Ridge in Gibbs Cave of the Apron Boulders in Squamish, his first V14.

On Facebook, he said, “A dream came true! When I started climbing more or less 20 years ego. I always wanted to be on the top of the grades.

“At that time V14 was the top of the grades for bouldering. I always kept in my mind that goal. But, I knew that It was a lifetime goal. Last Sunday on the evening, waiting for better weather conditions, finally my dream became real.”

He worked on the burly problem for more than a year. “My strengths, my beta, my mind changed during that year and during my whole life,” he said.

North Ridge was first climbed by Georg Joost in 2008 and starts on Black Magic V13. It’s been repeated about four or five times.

A few days after his send, he did a lap of the Grand Wall with Jeremy Blumel.
