Stefano Ghisolfi Sends Stoking the Fire 5.15b

He "Most of the holds later dried but some of them were still pouring, so I dried them first and then protected them with aluminium paper"

Stefano Ghisolfi has finished 2019 with a send of Stoking the Fire 5.15b in Santa Linya, Spain, his sixth of the grade.

Chris Sharma made the first ascent in 2013 and it was repeated by Adam Ondra, Jakob Schubert and Sachi Amma. Fight or Flight is the most climbed 5.15b with six sends, making Stoking the Fire the second most climbed.

Ghisolfi wrote on 8a.na, “Wet holds and poor conditions, no excuses. Super happy and motivated for the direct version.” Ghisolfi became the fourth climber to ever send a 5.15c back in December 2018 when he redpointed Perfecto Mundo.

Ghisolfi sent Stoking the Fire despite some of the holds being wet. “The first four days the weather was amazing and I tried the sections very well and I felt immediately comfortable,” he said.

“After the fourth day I realized that I could do it very fast and wanted to give some tries in the next days. It rained a lot, but I thought in the cave it should be possible to climb anyway but I was wrong, water poured and when it stopped raining outside it started to rain inside and it was very very wet.

“Most of the holds later dried but some of them were still pouring, so I dried them first and then protected them with aluminium paper.” See more of his sends here.
