Stu Smith Opens New Crag in Smithers B.C. with a 5.12

Stu Smith recently returned from the West Coast to his childhood home in Smithers, B.C. The area is known more for its skiing than climbing, but that didn’t stop Smith from exploring for potential routes. At an area called Twin Falls, he bolted and climbed the first route at the crag and called it Back to the Start 5.12.

“Bolted a beautiful power endurance route, which follows perfect input crimps up a overhanging wall,” wrote Smit. “The locals are stoked and plan to develop the rest of the bluffs in the surrounding area. I could not be happier to hear that and hope in the future the kids growing up in Smithers get into the life of climbing for its given me so much.”
