Sully’s Hangout and a New 5.13b in Vancouver

Brent Nixon of the West Coast recently sent the hardest route at Sully’s Hangout in Vancouver with a send of Antisocial Media 5.13b. After, he wrote on Sendage.com, “Worked this route for a short period last spring after bolting it then lost motivation. Returned this spring for the send. Hard to grade a route after bolting and working it, for me this route feels like 5.13b/c, will have to wait for the consensus.” Follow Nixon below on Instagram.

Sully’s Hangout is a popular crag at Lynn Valley Head Waters Park. To get to it is a short 15-minute hike up from the car, just take the Lynn Loop Trail in reverse and 50 metres before the junction with Lynn Peak Trail is the climber’s path. There are over 20 sport routes that are well bolted and range mostly from 5.8 to 5.11. The top-five moderate routes are Shake Your Lettuce 5.10c, Dynamic Duo 5.10b, Lefty 5.10a, Your Other Left 5.9 and Little Lulu 5.9. Some of the best 5.11s are Wingman 5.11b, Get Bent! 5.11b, Constant Gardener 5.11b, My One Muscle 5.11a and Special K 5.11c.
