Here are some ways you can learn about the situation and help out, plus a new film about Arapiles climbing
In November 2024, the Victorian Government and Parks Victoria announced plans to close 63 per cent of climbing and prohibit off track bushwalking at Mount Arapiles/Dyurrite. Read our initial story here, and about how the action will close Punks in the Gym, the world’s first 5.14a here.
There has been no consultation with the local or climbing community. A new film was just released by Lucas Corroto about the situation to raise awareness.
The future of Australian rock climbing is at stake. The climbing community urgently needs your help:
