The Petzl RocTrip has been touring the world for two decades and is back this year with a stop in Manikia, Greece, and Gripped will be there. The first event in Greece was back in 2006 when some of the brand’s top sponsored athletes visited the area.

The first Petzl RocTrip was in 2002 at the Boffi Cliffs near Millau in southern France in partnership with the French Alpine Club. To add a little spice to the event, participants were asked to test their skills on La Voie Ultime 5.14d, which Chris Sharma sent.

The RocTrip’s first stop in Canada was in 2005 in Squamish, when Sharma made the first ascent of Dreamcatcher 5.14d. In 2011, over 600 climbers visited the massive Getu Cave in China where they enjoyed over 200 new pitches of climbing.

Petzl RocTrip 2022

Deeply rooted in the climbing community, the goal of the Petzl RocTrip is to bring people together through a shared passion for climbing. To make that possible, Petzl created a dedicated online portal so that you don’t have to be in Greece to feel the good vibes and join in on the fun of the Petzl RocTrip.

We’re also bringing you something new: Creative Onsight! For this project, Petzl athletes, photographers, and videographers will team up to create exclusive content from Manikia! To top it all off, you’ll be able to contribute to the development of this wonderful climbing area. Stay tuned for more info coming soon!
