This Drone Footage of a New Brunswick 5.13 Send is Awesome

Watch François Côté repeat Send Badge 5.13a in New Brunswick

François Côté recently repeated Send Badge 5.13a at St. George in New Brunswick at Utopia, a crag with around 30 bolted routes up to 30 metres.

“Last week, Caleb Mazurkiewicz, Simon Bertheleme and I went to Utopia and I did a repeat send of Send Badge,” said Côté. “Caleb brought his drone and got some great footage. Here’s an edit I made with that footage. Props to Jon Adamson for putting up this great route five years ago.”

Jon Adamson made the first ascent of Send Badge in summer 2016. About the route, he says, “This route is definitely one of or possibly the coolest route I’ve ever been on, let alone put up. It combines hard bouldery moves, interesting chimney climbing and absolutely wild exposure. It is so good, if you can climb in this range you should check it out.”

For a complete list of routes as of 2015 see the online guide here. Utopia is about 4.5 kilometres north of St. George. Send Badge is on the Sunnyvale Wall, where a number of projects remain.
