Ben Kent and Robbie Milne climbed three new routes on Greenland earlier this year, with Kent writing an in-depth story about their expedition here.

The three new routes, which are found near Lake Taserssuaq on previously unnamed mountains, are Optimisme (TD+ 6b M5, 930 m), Duddon Valley Syndrome (E3/4 6a, 610 m) and Simon’s Route (E3 6a/A1, 868 m). It was Ken’t second summer in a row on Greenland; in 2024, he climbed with Indie Fallowfield and Chris Moore, and established five new routes on the west face of Innarsuit, including the 12-pitch Twist of Fate (E5 6a, 420 m).

About the names of the peaks, Kent said, “The summits themselves we left unnamed. These mountains certainly don’t belong to us in a wild place like this. We simply feel privileged to have been able to have adventures on them and escape unscathed without them noticing.”

Big Wall climbers have been establishing routes on Greenland for over 50 years. Just last year, Matteo Della Bordella, Silvan Schüpbach, Symon Welfringer and Alex Gammeter climbed a new 35-pitch 5.12 on the northwest face of Drøneren in Greenland – read about it here.
