Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson, fresh from their now-famous Dawn Wall push appeared on live cable television.
After 19 days on Dawn Wall, more media than they could handle and a lost voice, Caldwell and Jorgeson stepped in front of America once again. This time, they were sporting clean clothes and less tape on the fingers. After having free climbed the Dawn Wall, they sat with Ellen, behind them a Corey Rich photo of them not freeing the route. The image that highlights the great free climb is of Caldwell jumaring a rope.
It’s their first sit-down interview since, “becoming the first pair to climb Yosemite’s El Capitan using only their hands and feet.”
As climbers, we know that’s not true. Caldwell has freed Yosemite a number of times, as has many others, but semantics don’t matter to mass media.
Watch as, “The pair of free climbers sit down with host Ellen DeGeneres to talk about their unprecedented achievement.”
First, DeGeneres had a question for each of them.
