Watch Auer Free-Solo Three Dolomite Big Walls in a Day

Hansjorg Auer has soloed three Dolomite big walls in a day with nothing more than a small paraglider, climbing shoes and a chalk bag.

In August 2016, Auer free-soloed The Vinatzer/Messner VI+ 800m on Marmolada, the Abramkante VII 500m on Piz Ciavazes and Große Mauer VII 300m on Sass dla Crusc in only 12 hours. He covered over 30 kilometres and gained 3,600 vertical metres.

He left his bivouac at 6:15 in the morning, climbed the first peak by 8:30, second by noon and third by 6 p.m.

Auer has free-soloed many big routes, including the 37-pitch The Fish Route 5.12c in the Dolomites in 2007. Other big free-solos include Tempi Moderni 5.11 800m, Locker vom Hocker 5.12 350m) and Mephisto 5.11 400m.

In 2016, he made the first ascent of a big alpine route on Gimmigela East 7,005m in India. Watch Auer free-solo three big walls in a day below.
