Watch Carlo Traversi Send New Empath 5.15a
One of the most aesthetic sport routes in California
Carlo Traversi sent his new granite 5.15a, Empath, out in Tahoe, California earlier this year. He first visited the cliff in the summer of 2019, after Jimmy Webb had sent him a picture of it. Webb had spotted the line while out bouldering.
Traversi said that Empath is “the most obvious and best line of the cliff.” Traversi has sent V16 with Creature From the Black Lagoon in Colorado and 5.14+ trad with the second ascent of Meltdown in Yosemite.
After his first ascent, it was repeated by Webb, Daniel Woods and Nathaniel Coleman. The route involves powerful laybacks, hard crack and tricky compression moves.
