Watch Crazy Downward Dyno on New Squamish 5.13R

Stu Smith about to dyno down. Watch video below.

Stu Smith is one of the most consistent hard-climb new routers in Canada and his newest route, a variation, includes a downward traversing dyno.

For the past few years he’s been adding extensions and new routes to slabby and steep B.C. walls.

His most recent is a traversing extension to Vorpal Sword at Quercus Cliff in Murrin Park in Squamish.

“At the very end Vorpal Sword, you follow a seam out right via crimps ending with a downward dyno to a smooth jug,” said Smith.

“In my opinion it adds a letter grade to the route and an R rating.”

Smith called his new 5.13R Revenge of The Jabberwock.

Vorpal Sword follows six bolts up a technical slab and is considered by many to be the best at the 5.12d grade in Murrin, if not all of Squamish.

Watch Smith send his variation route below.
