Watch Fabian Buhl Rope-Solo Free New Seven-Pitch 5.14b

Fabian Buhl sent a new seven-pitch 5.14b called Ganesha in Sonnwendwand at Loferer Steinplatte, Austria, last fall. In the style of Alex Huber, Buhl climbed ground-up and only place four bolts in 200 metres. His final free ascent took four days.

Buhl was inspired by Huber’s route Nirwana 5.14c from 2012. After Buhl repeated Nirwana, he looked down and saw a line that he wanted to climb in the same style as Huber. He took a number of falls up to 20 metres. For more see here. Many young climbers have impressive rope-solo free climbs to their name, including David Lama and Pete Whittaker.
