Watch Quick Reactions Save Climber’s Life on Mountain Side

They self arrest before slipping down one of the steep slops that drop for hundreds of metres

A U.K climber descending the Aiguille du Midi Arête slips, fall and has to quickly self arrest using his axe to stop him falling to certain death.

Many climbers have slipped here in the past and fallen down one of the steep slopes to either side of the trail.

During the winter, this ridge has a nicely carved out path with snow walls on both sides and with ropes to hold on to the whole way down. It’s a far different experience in the summer, with mostly ice and soft snow and nothing to hold on to.
