Watch Second Ascent of Metanoia on Eiger Film

In the winter of 1991 Jeff Lowe climbed a line straight up the north face of the Eiger. Alone and without bolts. Many said it was madness, most said it was visionary, everybody said it was an exceptional climb.

Lowe named the route Metanoia, a Greek term and means as much as fundamental change of thinking, a new view of the world. The climb remained a mystery for 25 years. Until Dec. 30, 2016. when Thomas Huber, Stephan Siegrist and Roger Schaeli were able to repeat the route in an epic feat.
