West Coaster Dan Beland Sends 5.14b in Maple Canyon

Canadian Dan Beland has been spending some time at Maple Canyon, Utah, and has added a few 5.14s to his growing list of hard sends.

Beland’s hardest climb at Maple Canyon to date is Divine Fury 5.14b, which he recently sent before climbing Mexican Rodeo 5.13d and Pipe Dream 5.14a.

He now has nearly 30 climbs under his belt of 5.14a or harder.

After his Divine Fury send, he wrote on Sendage.com, “This was my main goal for the trip. Cool that it came together quick after spending the first two weeks building fitness on other routes. I’d go five stars if the top half had less rests. Still an awesome line.”

Also in Maple, he climbed Eulogy 5.14a and Don’t Mess With Texas 5.14a.

Beland has four sends of 5.14c, including Solid Gold at Cathedral, Supermanboy at Cheakamus, Southern Smoke at Red River Gorge and Stressful Day at the Office at Horne Lake.

I feel like I haven't been climbing as much or as hard as I'd like to due to some nagging minor injuries from earlier in the year. Thanks to the mega steepness and generally large holds at Maple Canyon my tweaky bits are feeling pretty good. . I have a bigger goal for this trip but first I need to get the fitness back up so I'm trying to do a route called Eulogy which is an extension of a route I did last year called Millennium. .
