Will Bosi Picks Up Second Ascent of Powerful V15
The V17 climber adds another problem to his ever-growing tick list of hard boulders
On June 8, Will Bosi has made the first repeat of Ultra Instinct V15 (8C) in Forest Rock in the U.K. The problem was first established by Orrin Coley in March 2023. It took Coley three years of effort over 26 sessions to send the problem.
The line is super powerful. A huge rightward move off underclings is followed by a leftward throw to the crux hold – a weird shallow dish with a thumb-catch. Another huge move to a right sidepull comes next, then the left-hand dish is flipped to an undercling and then bumped to a crimp. And finally, a wildly deep right drop knee is needed to get high enough to hit the final hold.
Ultra Instinct V15 is a low start of Limit Breaker V14 (8B+), another Coley FA from 2019. Bosi sent Limit Breaker back in 2022. On his 8a.nu profile, Bosi hinted that he might try a sit start variation of Ultra Instinct. You can watch his send of Ultra Instinct below.
You’d have a hard time finding another boulderer on the planet with as impressive a year as Bosi just had. Over the past twelve months, he has repeated Shawn Raboutou’s Alphane V17, Nalle Hukkataival’s Burden of Dreams V17, and Jimmy Webb’s Ephyra V16. He also put up a V16 of his own, Honey Badger in the U.K, and opened and repeated many V15’s.
