Will Mayo Sends Classic Gunks Crack

Watch Will Mayo on one of America’s most classic cracks found at the Gunks.

Super Crack 5.12c is located at the Sky Top crag in the Gunks, New York’s famous traditional crag.

The overhanging finger crack was first climbed by Steve Wunsch in 1974 and was one of the most difficult routes in the world.

The crag Sky Top is one of six or seven main walls in the Gunks and is owned by the Mohonk Mountain House. Due to liability issues, the Mountain House closed Sky Top to climbing in the mid-1990s.

Russ Clune and Marty Molitoris put in lots of effort to have the crag reopened and climbers could climb there by the mid-2000s.
