At 5 p.m. on Fri. Aug. 22, the woman’s partners reported the accident and shortly after a universal helicopter responded, but could not reach her.

A high angle rescue team and firefighters from St. John’s, Flatrock and Torbay responded to the call and retrieved her body.

The accident took place on a prow of rock that juts out over the Atlantic Ocean called the Beamer.

The sandstone sea cliff is a popular top-rope area comprised of coarse grained conglomerate. Many of the anchors are close to the edge.

More details about the accident as they become available.
