Zach Watson’s New 5.13
Thunder Bay crusher, Zach Watson, has climbed a steep new 5.13 close to town
Zach Watson has climbed the first 5.13 at Mt Godfrey in Thunder Bay in Northern Ontario. He bolted the line this summer and worked on it between classes while attending Lakehead University. Watson, originally from Canmore, has been ticking the area’s hardest routes since arriving last year. This route adds to the growing list of steep hard sport routes. Mitch Marostica climbed a new 5.12d, The Portal, left of the area test-piece Echoes of the Totem, 5.12, in early September. Godfrey has a half dozen 5.12s on solid basalt.
