Big New Mixed Climb Sonnentanz M7+ in Dolomites
Vallunga Daniel Ladurner and Hannes Lemayer have made the first ascent of Sonnentanz WI5+ M7+, a new 260-metre mixed climb above Val Gardena in the Dolomites.
The pair recently made the first ascent of Teufelsgeige a few weeks ago, which is a new 125-metre WI5+ M6 right of the classic ice climb Piovra.
The new monster mixed rig is near the classic Illuminati, which was first climbed in January 2006 by Albert Leichtfried at M11+ WI6+ over five pitches.
Sonnentanz climbs a few pitches of steep ice, which had been climbed years ago, followed by a short mixed pitch followed by more ice.
The route sounds similar to Aquadisiac WI6 M7 on the Stanley Headwall, tho a big taller.
Watch the pair on the first ascent of Teufelsgeige a few weeks ago.
