Barb Clemes gives her Frilly and the Chilly presentation about hardcore women who climbed serous things a few decades ago. This is the start of many history lessons about cutting edge women who pushed the limits in the alpine.

Clemes will be presenting on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Canmore Brewing Company as part of The Bow Valley Mountain Club’s speaker series.

She was a member of the first Canadian women’s team to successfully climb North America’s highest peak, Denali.

Clemes and partner Ann Campbell did the first female ascents of many of the Rockies ice climbs. She was sending 5.12 when most Canadian climbers hadn’t even tried yet.

As a member of Canada’s National Sport Climbing Team, she competed on the World Cup circuit from 1989 – 1992.

She is also a member of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides. You don’t want to miss this show.
