The ice tunnel – At 3,800 metres, this is the exit from the upper Midi station. Through this tunnel is one of the most amazing alpine arenas a climber can experience. Hundreds of routes up to 1,300 metres, including the Grandes Jorasses, await. The goal is to walk through these doors and catch the last lift back to Chamonix at the end of the day. If you miss it then you have a cold night at 3,800 metres. Once again, we made it.
