Edu Marin Completes Valhalla 5.15a in China

Edu Marin has completed his massive 14-pitch 5.15a in China after sending all of the pitches of Valhalla in Getu. “To send the pitches took me four months,” said Marin. “Getu village in Guizhou province is one of the poorest regions of China and is in constant development. The economy is based mainly on agriculture. Things are different, here. People has no time for leisure and internet connection is low.
“Waking up early, 983 stairs up, 150 metres of jugging ropes and we would start climbing in -5ºC. To be honest I’ve been tempted to give up sometimes. It took endurance, discipline, perseverance and lots of motivation.”
Marin said he plans to stay in Getu until he completes the mega route in a day. Watch Marin on the fifth pitch below, which Marin has called Odyn’s Crack 5.15.
