Divine Fury, 5.14b was my big objective for this trip to Maple Canyon. When I arrived here I knew I didn't have the fitness to pull it off, so I spent the first 2 weeks getting pumped silly on routes I'd already done and linkups into the top half of Devine. That strategy paid off. The moves on Devine seemed hard at first but I found a few tricks and better sequences. Somehow it magically came together and I sent the thing! . Small fingers for thin cracks is the name of the game for this route! • I shot this route last fall at sunset with @songbyungkyu showing the big moves going from the 1st half to the 2nd half of the climb. I wanted to take another crack (see what I did there?) at shooting this route during sunset, but this time showing the technical and fingery section of the 1st half. • ? Back in this beautiful place for the third year in a row. @shmaltzonrye and I are still dealing with some damp weather, but it sure feels good to be here and bump into old friends. Here’s a shot from last year of @arnaudpetit_climb on a new addition to the Berlin Wall bolted by local Mika Duc. Le bidule intergalactique 7c+ is a real gem, technical and runout, it goes all the way to the top of the cliff. I was lucky to flash the route for its 2nd ascent, and a day later photographed Arnaud as he casually onsighted the route for its 3rd ascent.
