Shawn Parent Talks Ice

Shawn Parent is an ice climber based in Batchawana Bay, north of Sault Ste. Marie. Ice climbing is in full swing this January. Parent recently spoke on CBC Radio’s Up North about the ice climbing season.

Parent played an important role during the 70s and 80s in Northern Ontario. He pioneered dozens of ice routes around Thunder Bay, Orient Bay, Agawa Canyon and Montreal River.

He is also well-known for his many rock routes around Thunder Bay, including Spiral Galaxy and Discovery on Sleeping Giant.
