It’s been a cold start to the year across Canada, but ice climbers have been making the most of it by getting out to swing the tools.
Here are five ice climbing shots from in and around the Canadian Rockies this month.
I'm not one for inspirational quotes but decent climber (and exceptional muffin baker) @the_real_slim_samson once told me "I'll show you perfect technique. Let me just find a picture of myself" 😂😂😂 jokes aside, paying attention to climbing properly helps, considering I never thought I'd be able to lead the steeper lines at Bear Spirit. I still stiched up the pitch but I made it up there eventually and you know, progress.. it's nice 😜 January 20, 2019 📷@brandonmacmullin @hillsoundequipment #hillsound
Rad and cold one of @sandylarissa! “Glad I could count on @home.in.the.mountains to pick me up some gas station gloves when I couldn't find my BD's the night before we were going climbing! 😂 Weren't exactly the most technical pair but hey, they got me up left hand of Weeping Wall, so I'll count it as a win! Thanks again Mikael for a great day out on the ice, can't believe how much my stoke is growing with each climb! Feeling great! 😁 📸: @home.in.the.mountains” #onehundredhikesfordad #icelife #climbing #winter #iceclimbing #alberta #canada #grippedmagazine
