The Man Who Built A Climbing Legacy In Italy

When Rolando Larcher first tried on a pair of climbing shoes they were not the downturned, sticky footwear that we have access to today.

They were boots and to climb you had to go to the mountains. 30 years later, he has established hundreds of sport climbs and multi-pitches around his home town of Trento In Northern Italy.

Rolando is still as passionate about climbing as when he first touched the rock all those years ago. Climbing has taken him far and wide, all around Europe and beyond, but its establishing routes around his hometown of Trento that has given him the most satisfaction and pleasure. He has been at the core of La Sportiva’s athlete team for three decades, and is still climbing as strong as the younger generation he now climbs with.
