The Adidas Rockstars qualifications round took place earlier today with a number of climbers flashing all four problems.

“It was really nice climbing today. The boulders were really cool, but hard. It was great to see the other girls as well – and inspiring that there are such a lot of strong girls. When you don’t climb a boulder, but you see others doing it you know it’s possible and you’re even more motivated and just want to climb it. Gholaamali Baratzadeh was celebrating his birthday and after sending all the problems said, “It was a great way to celebrate my birthday flashing all the boulders, maybe my best day climbing so far.

“This is the second year that I’m the best in the qualification; the problems were easier than in the WCH, but I still think it was hard to flash all four of them. So I’m really happy to have made it. I will try to keep my performance up for tomorrow at the semifinal and maybe the final!”

Nora Kiraly also moved into semifinals and said after the qualifications, “I’m very happy to reach the semifinals this year.

“I was second also last year, but couldn’t join the semifinals as it was only the winner moving on. As they changed the rules for 2018 I’m really excited to make the cut. I’m sure it’s going to be hard tomorrow, but I’m really looking forward to it.

“There are a lot of girls this year, first I got a bit scared as I watched them warm up, they looked so strong. Tomorrow my main goal is just to enjoy.“
