Watch Climbing in Remote Wild Owyhee in Oregon

Few climbers probably know about the rock towers in the wild Owyhee in Oregon, but this short video is a good introduction to the area.

Watch top American climber Graham Zimmerman explore vast landscapes, sometimes dubious rock quality and talks about the need to permanently protect and preserve the fragile environment.

Up to 95 per cent of Oregon’s Owyhee Canyonlands lack any form of permanent protection. These threats include industrial oil and gas development, limited access resulting from mining, pollution to wildlife habitats and rivers as well as the desecration of sacred Native American sites.

While the Obama administration considered the Owyhee for a national monument, the Owyhee proposal seeks Wilderness or National Conservation designation by Congress to protect 2.5 million acres in Southeast Oregon.

The full film will be released June 1 and it follows eight people who take on different challenges in the park, from climbing to fishing, to show off the great adventures Owyhee has to offer.
