Watch Five Rock Climbing Whippers
Your weekly dose of edge-of-your-seat whipper action
You can go your entire rock climbing life without taking a whipper if you’re careful enough, but more times than not you’ll run into a crux where falling is inevitable.
Below are five rock climbing whippers that luckily didn’t end too badly, plus two ice climb know-downs. Follow Whipper on Instagram for more big falls.
Whipper #1
Top trad climber Matteo Della Bordella takes a whipper on the classic Zombie Roof 5.13 at The Smoke Bluffs.
Whipper #2
Rita Young Shin goes for an awkward whipper that could’ve been worse without a helmet on.

This climber goes for a ride and nearly decks head first. A close call and reminder to always wear a helmet.
Whipper #4
