Watch Ice Climbers on The Chief in Squamish

Squamish has a history of great ice climbing, but it has to be cold enough for it to stick around

A few years ago, Jia Condon, Paul McSorley, Jason Kruk and Tony Richardson made the first ascent of Ultimate Ultimate Everything, an ice route up The Chief in Squamish.

Their winter route was a variation to the popular 5.10 summer route Ultimate Everything. It was climbed a few times before warm weather melted the thin pitches. It followed smears of ice on slabs and in corners.

The Howe Sound area will get a cold snap every winter, but ice doesn’t always form. Will there be ice around Squamish this winter?
