Words with Gord McArthur at Denver Ice World Cup

Canada’s Gord McArthur retired from competition ice climbing midway through the 2018 season. Tired, fed up, exhausted, one of the most experienced climbers on the circuit decided to call time on the World Tour.

Twelve months later, a reflective McArthur explains the reasons for his return to World Cup action ahead of the competition in Denver. He ended up finishing in ninth. For full results, visit here.

Well, it was one heck of a weekend. I certainly met my goals, which was exciting. In today's semi-finals I climbed myself into 9th position overall (only missing finals by one spot). What an incredible venue. Thanks Denver. And thanks to my coaches @ascensionfitness and @adventuresporttherapy for believing in said goals.
