Yosemite Valley Closed After Mega Snow Storm

Yosemite has been dumped on by nearly two metres of snow that has downed trees, collapsed structures and set places on fire with fallen hydro poles. “All roads in Yosemite are closed due to heavy snow and fallen trees. People currently in Yosemite should stay inside to avoid falling trees,” park officials wrote on Yosemite’s official Facebook Page.

Visitors had been warned about the potential for such road closures beginning Feb 1. “This event was probably triggered by heavy rains that fell over the weekend and collected in cracks in the rock, generating outward pressure.was probably triggered by heavy rains that fell over the weekend and collected in cracks in the rock,” park officials wrote.

Climbers have been posting images and stories to Instagram over the past few days and warning friends to stay away.
