Classic Supercanaleta Couloir on Fitz Roy Melts Out
The Supercanaleta, one of the most classic icy couloirs in Patagonia, is a waterfall right now.
The classic route has melted out. While we don’t know how often it goes from icy ramp to rock, this photo from Canadian Sam Lambert shows that the route is now deteriorating.
Of course, it is the middle of austral summer.
Lambert and Kiff Alcocer just returned from a seven-day push in the mountains and climbed Ensueno, a 1,300-metre 5.10, a line on the north face of Guillaumet.
