Climbing in the Cirque of the Unclimbables

The Cirque of the Unclimbables are in the Northwest Territories and to many climbers are never more than a dream destination. Epic TV brings us a three-part series from a trip to the remote alpine granite towers.

In the first episode of the Unclimbables we meet the team of friends who are about to set out on an amazing climbing adventure. Each man has a different strength and has his own motivations for setting out into the unknown and attempting a climb that will test the very limits of his strength, endurance, and resolve. Check out their compelling stories and get ready for an incredible expedition.

This week the crew heads to Squamish, BC for some climbing and conditioning. when they have sussed out their bodies and minds they first travel to Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon, and then take a sea plane into the wilderness. It’s a tough hike from their drop off point to the meadow at the base of the Cirque but it’s worth it – the alpine scenery is jaw dropping.

The boys have arrived in camp and go for one last bouldering session before they head up the mountain for the main event. They start climbing strong but before they know whats happening their luck starts to change. A weather front moves in overnight, freezing them to the core and when they set out the next day, frozen finger and frayed nerves begin to take their toll. Halfway up, they have to start making some very difficult decisions.
