Evan Hau Repeats Kinder Surprise 5.14+ in Rockies

In 2015, Josh Muller added Kinder Surprise to Acephale in the Rockies and suggested a grade of 5.14c or 5.14d. It would have been the fourth 5.14d in Canada if confirmed after Bunda de Fora, Forever Expired and Dreamcatcher. Hau spent a number of days working on the difficult limestone route before sending on July 30 and suggesting a grade of 5.14c. On Instagram her wrote, “Finally bagged the second ascent of Kinder Surprise at Acephale. Lightning strikes twice providing back to back dry season windows to send this route. Not the most time I’ve spent on a route but took by far the most redpoint tries. To me this route is 5.14c.”
Hau is currently projecting a hard new Rockies line, scroll through his Instagram for more. Crusher Alex Megos has arrived in Canada and is projecting something harder than Hubble 5.14+ in the U.K.
