Matt Fultz Sends The Game V15 or Maybe V16

This is his sixth V15 or harder problem

Matt Fultz has repeated The Game in Boulder Canyon, Colorado. The first ascent was in 2010 by Daniel Woods and he graded it V16. Woods spent a total of 17 days spread out over two years and said it was a step up from Terremer V15 and Jade V15.

Fultz suggested on Instagram that The Game is V16 and graded it as V15/16 on 8a.nu. Also on 8a.nu is a list of other climbers who’ve repeated it, such as Carlo Traversi, Jimmy Webb and Jon Cardwell. Traversi, who made the second ascent, said, “Five days. First of all, the utmost respect goes to Daniel for establishing this line. In terms of strength and ability, he is by far the visionary leader of our generation. Not to mention, he’s also one of the nicest and most respectful people you’ll ever meet.

“As for the grade of this one, I honestly don’t know. V15 seems appropriate only because I haven’t climbed any others. It’s a hard boulder, that’s fun to climb on, and seems to fit my style very well. Let’s just leave it at that.” Like many V16 problems, suggested grades seem to always come in with a plus or minus one.
