Watch Barbara Zangerl Send Prinzip Hoffnung

Watch Barbara Zangerl send the classic trad route Prinzip Hoffnung 5.14a in Bürser Platte, Austria.

Barbara “Babsi” Zangerl made the third ascent of the hard Prinzip Hoffnung in 2014. At the time, she was 25 years old and lived about 15 minutes from the steep line.

She started by top-roping the route and nearly sent it on her first ground-up attempt. For nearly 10 metres off the ground, there is no protection that would hold a fall.

The route was frist climbed in 2009 by Austrian Beat Kammerlander and repeated a few years later by Jacopo Larcher.

Zangerl was the first woman to boulder V13 by sending Pura Vidain in Magic Wood in 2008. In 2013, she completed the Alpine Trilogy, which included Des Kaisers neue Kleider 5.14a (The Emperor’s New Clothes) in the Austrian Alps, Silbergeier 5.14a in Switzerland’s Ratikon range and The End of Silence 5.14a in Berchtesgaden, German.
