Paul Robinson Repeats South African 5.14d

The first ascent was in 2019 years after some thought it would go as a highball

Top American boulderer Paul Robinson has made the third ascent of Legacy 5.14d in Rocklands. In 2007, Robinson became the second climber ever to flash a V13 with Nagual.

Legacy was spotted by Dave Graham and thought of as a bold highball until legendary boulderer Fred Nicole bolted it. Giuliano Cameroni then made the first ascent and Nicole later made the second.

Robinson’s send is the third known ascent, and about the grade he said that it could be graded V14, “The route is short so it really is hard to say which grade to use but it sure is a stunner!”

In March 2010, Robinson made the first ascent of Lucid Dreaming, a highball in the Buttermilks that he proposed a grade of V16, which would’ve made it the hardest problem ever at the time. He later suggested Lucid Dreaming might be a V15.
