Everest Trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal Fights For His Life In 1996 Disaster-Based Movie

No one will climb Mount Everest this year because of the tragic earthquakes that hit Nepal. But, don’t worry, Hollywood will make sure the mountain is still front and centre.

The trailer for Everest has been released, giving a first look at Hollywood’s take on the true life events surrounding the 1996 Mount Everest disaster that is captured in Jon Krakauer’s book, Into Thin Air.

One note is that on the poster it reads, “Human beings aren’t meant to survive at the cruising altitude of a 747.” And, that’s true, but Mount Everest’s highest point is 2,000 metres lower than the cruising altitude of a 747. So close, but so far.

Other popular Hollywood climbing films that have quenched societies thirst for adventure are Cliffhanger, Vertical Limits, and the always classic, K2.
