Helen Rennard is a Bold and Accomplished Scottish Climber

Helen Rennard

Helen Rennard is an accomplished and bold winter alpinist living in Fort William, Scotland. When not helping the local community through her job as a social worker, she spends all her time
either training for climbing or out in the mountains climbing hard mixed routes.

Rennard has been involved in many first ascents of hard mixed routes on Ben Nevis and around the Scottish highlands. She is a specialist in Scottish mixed climbing – rimed or snowed-up rock, frozen turf and ice routes which are revered by alpinists around the world.

Already this year she’s climbed a number of hard climbs, including the first ascent of the bold Shapeshifter VIII on Lurcher’s Crag with Andy Nisbet. Unfortunately, Nisbet died while climbing shortly after with Steve Perry. Watch this short film on Rennard, one of the boldest climbers you’ve likely never heard of.
