Watch Jonathan Siegrist Repeat Rifle’s First 5.15

Siegrist recently visited Squamish where he repeated several difficult lines

Earlier this year, Jonathan Siegrist made the second ascent of Kinder Cakes 5.15a at Rifle, one of Colorado’s most popular crags. The route takes a direct line up and out of the steep Skull Cave.

Rifle has hundreds of classic limestone routes, including a few 5.14ds, like Shadowboxing and Planet Garbage. The climbing at Rifle is found in canyon around 300 kilometres west of Boulder. Kinder Cakes was Rifle’s first 5.15 and was established by Joe Kinder.

In June, Siegrist made the first ascent of Event Horizon 5.15b at the 5G crag near Las Vegas. The top American climber has sent over 60 climbs from 5.14d to 5.15b. Some of his other notable repeats are Jumbo Love 5.15b, and La Planta de Shiva 5.15b.

Siegrist has visited Canada several times over the years and repeated several hard climbs, including the multi-pitch test-piece on Castle Mountain called Castles in the Sky 5.14a. He recently visited Squamish and climbed Spirit Quest 5.14d in Paradise Valley.
