Legendary Rob Wood Featured in New Film Project

I first met Rob Wood a few years ago at his home on Maurelle Island on Canada’s west coast. I went to visit him for a few days and to ask him questions about the late climber Billy Davidson, who I’m writing a book about.

Wood was welcoming and showed us around his large garden while waves crashed on the island’s shore. He was recovering from some health issues, but he told us stories about making the first British ascent of The Nose and about ice climbing in the Rockies in the 1970s. He was a great deal of help for my research and it was a pleasure to spend time with such a legend.

A new film called The Zone is being made about Wood and promises to be one of the best films about a Canadian climber in a long time. Watch the trailer below and head over to support the makers of the film here.
