Rock Climbing a Famous Tower in Grand Canyon National Park

Mount Hayden is one of the most climbed features in the Grand Canyon and has a classic 5.8

Mount Hayden is a sandstone spire in Nankoweap Canyon in the world-famous Grand Canyon National Park. Its pool table-sized flat top is a popular summit for rock climbers.

There are several routes to choose from, with the most popular being the South Face 5.8 and Pegasus 5.10+ up the east face. The tower is remote and requires a big approach, but the climbing is worth it.

In this video, Erikka Olsen succeeds in her dream of climbing Hayden while sharing what voices from the past can teach us about our present selves.
