Squamish Photographer Shares Love for Howe Sound

The area is home to some of the best granite rock climbing in Canada

A new short film from My Sea To Sky featuring Squamish photographer and climber Jimmy Martinello exploring how the inspirational recovery of Howe Sound (Átl’ḵa7tsem) has motivated him to join the shared fight to ensure his home is safeguarded for generations to come.

My Sea to Sky is a people-powered environmental organization that was founded in 2014 to defend, protect, and restore the area. “We organize educational events; coordinate research; build partnerships and respectful relationships; lift up First Nations voices and culture; and facilitate public engagement with our municipal, provincial, and federal governments. We aim to inspire our community to become stewards of Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound, and to make it as simple as possible for people to take action at critical moments.”

Many of Martinello’s amazing photos have been featured in Gripped magazine over the years. In this video, he’s joined by Annabelle McDonald for a seaside climb of a fun granite route. You can become a monthly supporter of My Sea to Sky here.
