Stefano Ghisolfi’s 5.15a Side Project
He made the third ascent of Adam Ondra's Kangaroo's Limb 5.15a in Flatanger, Norway

On August 25, Stefano Ghisolfi repeated Kangaroo’s Limb 5.15a (9a+) in the famous Hanshelleren cave of Flatanger, Norway. Over the summer, the route became his side project while working towards his primary goal, Silence 5.15d. Kangaroo’s Limb was established by Adam Ondra in September 2013. Jakob Schubert picked up the second ascent and Ghisolfi’s is the third.
Kangaroo’s Limb is unlike most of the huge enduro lines in the rest of the cave. Instead, it’s short, bouldery, and intense. Starting with a jump off the ground, the route climbs through a series of near-horizontal roofs up slopers, pinches, and crimps. After a rest position, a big left-hand dyno follows, and then a technical crux. The route ends with a mantle onto a ledge and a victory whip onto the draw below. Ghisolfi just released a send film of his Kangaroo’s Limb ascent, which you can watch below.
With his send of Kangaroo’s Limb, Ghisolfi has climbed 18 routes graded 5.15a. He’s also sent eight 5.15b’s and four 5.15c’s including repeats of Ondra’s Change and Alex Megos’ Perfecto Mundo and Bibliographie. In February last year, he made his first 5.15c FA with Excalibur near his hometown of Arco, Italy.
